Landscapes, still life and abstractions from the Sixties
curated by Andrea Busto
Ettore Fico’s poetics is expressed by a vast corpus of oil and tempera paintings, watercolours, pastels, engravings and drawings depicting a private and intimate world, very sparsely populated, inhabited, rather than by people, by objects of his studio, flowers of his garden, animals and coloristic impressions hovering between reality and unreality.
In this new exhibition at the museum dedicated to the artist, we wanted to focus on a particularly happy period of his production, the Sixties, where the thick mellow surfaces of the material substance of paint cling to the wood and the canvas mingled with sand, soil and vitreous elements which increase the volume of the coloured mass with coloristic bas-reliefs, physically present as main elements of the compositions.
