Art and Society in Italy. 1989 – 2001
Curated by Luca Beatrice, Andrea Busto e Cristiana Perrella
The exhibition represents a first attempt at a historical analysis of the generation of Italian artists active between the late nineteen eighties and the early twenty-first century. The period, embracing the fall of the Berlin Wall (November 9th 1989) and the attack on the Twin Towers in New York (September 11th 2001), where both culture and society have experienced unforeseeable changes, waiting for other crucial passages, the advent of a new century and of a new millennium. On view is a generation of artists who, opposed to those of the past, experiments with great freedom in style, form and contents, travelling from paintings to video, from installations to sculpture, from photography to design.
